Turning arrows
This is an image of a traffic signal hanging above an intersection. It shows a red left turn arrow, which controls the the traffic in a turn-only lane. When a turn-arrow signal is established for a street, the time for the vehicles to turn can be taken from the time pedestrians would have to cross the street. While there is typically still enough time for the average person, it may be set to a minimum, giving insufficient time to cross for some pedestrians with physical, cognitive, or sensory disabilities.
